Cambridge
This morning we went to Cambridge for the day. Adam had a day off and so it was a good opportunity to spend a day there with him. Unfortunately Thomas woke up feeling ill with a bad cold and so he decided to stay home and sleep it off.
We arrived shortly before lunch and showed my sister Adam's college before wandering around town and looking at some of the other colleges. Adam then joined us and we bought a light lunch from Pret before joining a punting tour on the river. It was very interesting to hear the tour guide telling us all about the colleges and then also hearing Adam's comments on them. Thankfully it was a glorious sunny day, perfect punting weather!
After that we walked around town, Adam showing us some of the sights and places of interest. We decided to walk to Grantchester along the river as Adam said it was only about a 20 minute walk - which actually turned out to be about 50 minutes! He later admitted that last time he had walked to Grantchester was after a May Ball when he had had far too much to drink, so probably got his timings wrong! We had a delightful tea under the apple trees of the Orchard Tea Garden, and then headed back to Cambridge where we had an early supper before coming home. These lovely long summer days mean you can do so much in a day and get home when it is late but still light. It was a wonderful day out in Cambridge and my sister really loved seeing it.
Apologies for not having much time for journals at the moment, we are on the go all day and getting home late at night. Tomorrow, back to London!
