Scotsman amongst the cabbage trees

Trev and I braved the cold wind and did a good long walk round the estuary sticking to the gardens and the west side which sheltered us from the bitterly cold southerly wind. The extra shows what snow we got. Confined to the western ranges. Much of the rest of the country is under snow or rain or is being blown away. Winter has arrived.

My mystery macro last night was, as many of you clever people said, rock salt. Poured it out of a bag, onto the ipad light table and bingo.
Once I saw it on the big screen I wished I had gone in even closer as I could see bubbles in the grains.Thanks for your stars and comments.
