The Scotsman moved here in 1905, into what was at the time I think the largest purpose-built newspaper office in the world.
The paper, struggling in the digital age, move down to fairly grand new offices by the Parliament at Holyrood in 2001; they moved again fairly recently to a distant office block - Rockstar North took over the Holyrood building.
The 1905 offices had been converted into a hotel in 2000. That hotel has just been bought by (whisper it) Glasgow nightclub, bar and hotel owner Stefan King.
In 1817, the founding editor. William Ritchie from Fife, was a campaigner for the reform of the policing and of prisons.
