The Coronation Procession 1937

A great visit to Glamis Castle today .... the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother and the birthplace of her daughter Princess Margaret both of whom died in 2002.

The castle is hosting a wonderful display of royal robes, 80 years since the coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. Several dresses, robes and coronets worn during the coronation ceremony on 12 May 1937 have been loaned to Glamis Castle.

In a cabinet along one wall there is a representation of the Coronation Procession immaculately assembled by a Mr Stewart Smith.  Taking a photograph through the glass casing wasn't too easy but I did want to blip part of the procession.

The first extra shot is a panorama of the procession, that was the only way I could capture the whole tableau. There was a third level but I just couldn't include it.  The second extra is part of the five and a half metre long robe of estate worn by Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother on that most memorable of days.
