Shopping in Guildford
There was still quite a bit of tidying up to do today after the party - Gavin took 12 large bags of empty bottles to the waste recycling centre, the marquee was taken down, and he returned the hired glasses and left over drinks to the liquor store. I was trying to catch up on chores at home - that ironing doesn't disappear - and then finally just before lunch my sister and I went to Guildford. She loved it, it is a very charming market town and is very appealing to visit. As there are some very good sales on we did a bit of shopping, had a bite to eat and then did a bit more shopping. Later that afternoon we took her to see Thomas' school and for a drive.
Tomorrow night we have tickets for The Lion King but we will go up to London in the late morning and spend the day there seeing all the landmark sights. I note that rain is forecast for tomorrow and while I am so pleased to finally be getting some rain as the garden is so dry, it is not ideal to be walking around London in the rain. Oh well, rain has never stopped play before...
Luke had a very tiring first day at his job in Paris - he arrived soaked to the bone as there was a heavy downpour this morning and he did not have an umbrella - and he is mentally tired as it is difficult to speak a foreign language all day as no English is spoken in the office - but it will be so good for the development of his French language.
