Newlands Hause

Today was a beautiful summer's day and I eventually found myself at the top of Newlands Hause. I cycled up from the foot of Catbells but I was defeated by a couple of sharp hills which included this final stretch. The bike is looking in the direction of my climb and you can see how the road just drops away.   It was only after taking this photo that I realised a lone cyclist was approaching still riding in his saddle. You can just see him cresting the final hill.  I can't imagine I'll ever be strong enough to achieve this.

The mountain on the horizon is Blencathra, with the summit of Catbells just visible to the right.
