Elephant Seals
Today we drove North on California Route 1 towards Big Sur. Our original plan had been to drive from San Fransisco to Los Angeles on the coast road but it is closed in multiple places due to landslides and a washed out bridge. As a result Big Sur is all but inaccessible. The drive is truly amazing with fabulous views and constantly changing terrain.
These elephant seals could be seen at various bays on the way. These chaps are enormous and seem very awkward on land. They all just lie out on the beach with the occasional growl and flipper wave. However you would not want to get too close.
We turned around at Ragged Point just before the road is closed and headed back to Morro Bay for another spectacular sunset.
