Morello Cherries

A visit this afternoon to the botanic gardens in Dundee. It was a lovely afternoon for a wander among some magnificent trees and beautifully maintained areas of grass.

The last area of the gardens we visited was the orchard which was planted in 2013.  Apples, greengages, soft fruit and these lovely cherries. Morello cherries are a sour cherry species (Prunus cerasus) and are often referred to as the cooking cherry.
