for numerous insects and higher up the wasps are still flying around despite their nest being destroyed in high winds a few weeks ago. There are many small holes on the bark so a woodpecker enjoys visiting. Considering it is very dead it is alive for many species. Right at the very top there are a couple of green twigs so perhaps there is still some life.
