Manuela's Party

Tonight we were invited to the birthday party of Manuela - she and her husband are the former owners of the land. Such a great evening - met many of the extended family - many of whom work abroad. We sat out on their balcony with the moon and stars above us - can you see them? Manuela is the lady on the left; her husband on the right.

And the food... well, all I can say is, the Alentejanos certainly know how to eat - and drink, and in generous quantities. Just the desserts: red fruit cake, fresh cheese with pumpkin conserves, rice pudding, chocolate mousse, and all kinds of fruit. And then we had the birthday cake...

(Apologies for the phone photo, but it's almost 2am, and not going to upload photos onto computer now... Our last visitors left this morning, but another couple, from Lisbon, have arrived - they also were warmly welcomed - and well fed - at Manuela's party.)
