The Hudson
At last some decent light. I realise now how shut in and city-bound we have been since living in Cleveland these last weeks. So good to be out in the fresh air and open landscape.
Another long drive today and we have finally arrived at M's family's holiday house on the banks of the Hudson River. An intriguing property, it used to be the local railway station. As I stand here looking at this view, the rail tracks are literally some 20m behind me, and the house right there on the other side of the tracks!. The line is very much in use, so it could be a noisy night?!
But just being out in the countryside, despite the railway, is such a pleasure. We had dinner out on the deck watching the last light fade over the distant hills, with swifts squealing in flight as they prepare to roost for the night, herons silhouetted on the water, and even a bald eagle perched on a submerged tree far out on the river.
