This kid.....

Ohhh little girl.... you do blow my mind far too often.

She's had a cracking day today. We've done festival practice this morning and she was brilliant. We walked to school and I picked her up as normal. On the way home we got the email with her exam result. She got a distinction - and a solid one too. Katie told B immediately, thanks to whatsapp and the two of them had a wee text chat.

We headed home for a very quick tea before going back out to school for Exhibition Night. We had a look round her classroom and I saw some gorgeous work of hers. A beautifully stitched monkey puppet in their jungle, a gorgeous oil pastel drawing, a piece of digital art, some great writing. I met her new teacher & saw the new room and she seemed lovely.

After looking in the classrooms it was time to head for her performances. First up was the orchestra (see extra). There's 95 of them this year. They really are impressive. They played an arrangement of Beethoven's 5th symphony and a brilliant Swing Low, Sweet Chariot medley, including a feature bit for the first clarinets, with some solos and duets in between.

For me though, the highlight of the evening was the Y2 Little Big Sing performance. They're going to take part in the Little Big Sing on Monday with loads of other kids from the county and have done an AMAZING job rehearsing. Tonight they performed their songs for the parents. They were absolutely brilliant. Katie had SUCH a good time singing and dancing. Katie just glowed. I loved seeing her enjoy it soooo much. In this song, she and her music teacher were laughing away pulling their big faces at each other. She and her friend were delighted that they get to lead the girls in one of the songs where they split into a round. Her grin when the music teacher had them take a bow of their own was wonderful. It really was such a good evening. An amazing reminder of just how incredible this school of theirs is.....

Granny and Grandad came to our house to round the day off with a cuppa and cake. Knocked it out of the park again, BabyGirl, you little superstar.
