Hever Castle Bathing Beauty

On what might be the last fine day for a while, I headed home from Mum's via Hever Castle in Kent.  The castle was the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, the second wife of Henry VIII.

The castle was purchased by William Waldorf Astor, who used his fortune to restore and extend the Castle in the early 20th century.  The Italian Garden was designed to display Astor’s collection of Italian sculptures, and at one end is a magnificent loggia overlooking a 38-acre lake, which was dug out of marshy land over 2 years by 800 men (what it is to have money!).

My "bathing beauty" is one of a pair on the Loggia fountain , which was apparently inspired by the Trevi Fountain in Rome.
