Sunday Afternoon Walk
Feeling a need for some fresh air and exercise I decided to investigate another local point of interest which somehow I have failed to visit after living in the area for over 20 years: Odiham Castle.
The castle is very small (it was used as a hunting lodge rather than a formal place of residence) and somehow today it just did not inspire my photography. Instead I was drawn by this little bridge over the adjacent Basingstoke Canal. It is a single-track road bridge, and lifts to let canal boats through - although the canal navigations cease just past the castle. The canal continues further, but soon becomes blocked when it reaches Greywell Tunnel, a 1230 yard tunnel which collapsed in the 1950s and is now home to colonies of bats.
