Tealing House Dovecot, Angus
Had to drive to Dundee to buy a few bits and pieces so we took the opportunity to have lunch out at the Pine Cone Café near Templeton Woods and then went for a little drive through the countryside afterwards.
We spotted a sign for Tealing House Dovecot and Earthhouse, so went to investigate further and this is the beautifully preserved Dovecot dating from the late 1500s. One of my Extras shows the inside and another the sign on the outside. I also liked the old rusty plough that was sitting on the grass beside the building.
There is another, even older, relic on the same site, the Iron Age Tealing Earth House, which is an underground passage or souterrain, but as I'm not keen on going underground TJ went off to investigate it on his own. Unfortunately, it started to pour with rain as he set off, so he came running back to the car and decided to look another day!
Of much more interest to me was this gorgeous foal and its mother in a field nearby (see Extras).
Quite chilly today, especially when it rained, which was often! Think our "summer" may be over before it began:-)
