The Observer

There will be members of my family who will roll their eyes when they see this photo -- sigh, another squirrel. Well, I happen to like the little critters and this is one of my regulars. I think I have a small family in attendance and I believe this was mom. She was quite taken with a blue jay who was also looking for a handout. She just hung there on the fence and watched him prancing around on the ground picking up nuts. I just love her little balled-up fists. I don't know if that's just normal or if she was planning to deck him with a left hook. The whole family is very appreciative of the peanuts. Usually when I go to Costco I buy 5 or 6 bags of them at a time and it never fails that the checker will ask me if they're for squirrels. I've had more than one checker tell me that they think most of the peanuts they sell go to feed the little dears. So, bravo to all you Costco-nut-buying-squirrel-feeders out there. I salute you.
