Dads Birthday

Today is my Dads 85th birthday and my brother held a family get together at his house to mark the occasion. As the blipfoto shows he's quite a fit and active pensioner and I have no doubt he'll see many more birthdays. The photo shows him playing boules with my brother-in-law and the grandson.

My dad is the oldest of 7 surviving children (the oldest died at childbirth) and two brothers and two sisters survive. Born in London (as were all my uncles, aunts and cousins) he was a Chief Petty Officer in The Royal Navy when he met my mother when his ship was docked in Cardiff! They will be married 60 years next year.

He retired young from business, and worked as a gardener and handyman for years - even building his own swiming pool! Qualified as a diving instructor he was only forced to give that up four years ago from a botched hip operation that left his one lower leg nerves damaged.

He's always up for helping people, has a good sense of humour, and is an all round good sport! My fav photo was this one I did with him called 'Dads Hands'
