Day 7 - Ollie the Photo Bomber
It was all change today as we moved out of our temporary accommodation into our permanent residence, and took back the car to Poppy. It was the first time we have driven over the Churchill barriers in conditions other than fine. Today the wind was whipping the spray across the road and it wasn't hard to imagine what it must be like when the barriers are closed to traffic, cutting off the south Mainland from Kirkwall and its connections to the outside world.
Poppy's garden was a riot of colour in the foreground of the most beautiful sea view one could imagine. It is arguably the prettiest situation I have ever seen.
We munched home made cake and put the world to rights before Mike very, very kindly drove us back to Stromness via a scenic route we hadn't been on before.
The white horses were certainly galloping off shore today as we looked down on Hamnavoe and the sea beyond.
We are unpacked again and watching the weather coming in from our window overlooking Hamnavoe. This feels like a home from home.
My extra image might be entitled- Where DID she get that hat?
