Day 6 -A Little Libation for the Weekend, Sir?
With the wind blowing a moderate hoolie and the rain deciding whether or not to arrive, we decided to make use of the wheels and visit Kirkwall for coffee.
Approaching the town, I noticed with horror 3 cruise ships anchored at the pier and as we walked into the Main Street we found it hotching with tourists stravaiging around the Cathedral and cluttering the pavements. It felt as though we were back in the centre of Edinburgh.
It could be argued that His Lordship and I are also tourists, but we like to think we are summer visitors with a residency permit.
The strange thing was, the tourists were not interested in sitting in cafés having coffee and so we found it no problem at all to find a seat in Judith Glue's, and, as has been the wont of late, no scones were consumed on the premises..
To avoid the press of people we turned tail and drove to the Orkney Brewery at Quoyloo so that HL could stock up on his source of libation for the next week.
As we returned to Stromness, a squall of light rain passed over, before the sun came out and turned Loch Harray a deep blue as is in my extra image.
