Maybe, maybe not a silver birch?

We came across this tree at National Trust Knightshayes House and Gardens and, unusually, it didn't have a name tag on it anywhere. Is it a silver birch? Not one I would normally recognise. Anyone? Quite a startlingly beautiful bark. Very like a paper maple, only in mono...

Anyhow, with this blip we catch ourselves up and are home once more. The trip down to Devon coincided with the most extreme four day heatwave I can recall, and I'm glad to see that standard British summer is now due to continue a while.
