Emperor Dragonfly

Another visitor to the pond ,laying eggs on plant material in the water. The nymphs live up to two years and will eat insects,tadpoles and small fish. When ready to hatch the nymphs crawl out of the water . The larval skin splits down the back for the final moult enabling the fully developed insect to haul itself free.
