SURVIVOR

I was woken by thunder this morning, then we had torrential rain for a large part of the morning. However, it seems to have persuaded this poppy to open up. I thought we'd lost it when an over-enthusiastic tree-planter offered to dig up the dandelions back at the end of winter, and I just managed to stop him as he plunged his spade into the roots of the poppy. It looked very dejected after that and failed to throw up any buds until last week when two rather pathetic specimens appeared. Anyway, here it is today, so as long as I can keep "professional" gardeners away from it I'm hoping for back-to-normal next year.
