Castle Rising
(Backblip)
Today started off not so good, eating at an overpriced fish and chip restaurant and heading to a grotty spot on the Norfolk coast to look at some cliffs that weren't that spectacular, and in blasting wind to boot. But it got better!
This Norman fort was the main attraction of the day, and it didn't disappoint. Impressive from the outside, but the inside was the real thing! Every single room in the place seemed to have gone through a half dozen alterations over the centuries. We'd never seen anything like it. It's normal for there to be an alteration here or there in a few rooms but not so much all over the place and in such a haphazard manner. The Howards really ruined the place! They're the ones who also owned(own?) Arundel Castle.
So all in all another good day, despite worsening weather.
