Collecting Evidence

Blackbirds, when you rearrange my pond,
remove the shells and scoop out all the grubs,
why leave them on the side for me to find?

You know, of course you do, I'll never mind
returning them, your avian 'lobster pots',
but might you sometimes start to think beyond

one meal (three courses, now I count the spoils)
and pop them back in place when you are done?

Believe me, please, you wouldn't spoil my fun.
And you'd have shorter gaps between your meals.
