Diary of an Edinburgher

Houdini!

A very slow start to the day after last night's fun. Neither of us managed the gym, which is more noteworthy for JR, who has been a staunch daily visitor.

We were off to try out another dog friendly local pub, this time we were also meeting Bailey and her mum. Rufus and Archie walked over the Meadows with their mums, while I gave them a head start and then took the bus. Archie was on his best behaviour after yesterday's relapse.

Today, I left my my walking stick at home on purpose. I feel a bit lost without it, but it's certainly much easier to have two free hands when taking the dog for a walk. But I didn't have too far to walk.

We had a lovely lunch, with cocktails. It's a terrific pub, lots of quirky decor, and nice friendly service. Mind you, we were the only people in, but the staff loved the dogs. We'll definitely be back.

Janet, Bailey and I took the bus home, but we had to hurry! I wouldn't say I 'ran' - more 'shuffled along quickly' stopping every few yards to wheeze. Janet got there first, and fiddled about with her bus pass long enough for me to arrive, gasping. The others walked back through the Meadows. So I was able to have a quick snooze after my Magnum.

Here's Rufus, under the table, with his wee treat which he likes to hold like this for a while before he gnaws at it. He's wearing his harness, but it's still a puzzle how he slipped out of it yesterday - it's a pretty tight fit.

Such heartbreaking stories coming out now about the poor people caught in the horrendous towerblock fire in London. Somebody must be held responsible. And other towerblocks must be checked!
