Dragonfly nymph exoskeleton
Proof that we have dragonfly larvae in our pond, and that one, at least, has reached maturity. I didn't, unfortunately, see which dragonfly emerged from this. And a photo would have been even wilder!
We had a broad bodied chaser and a four-spotted chaser vying for one particular twig for most of the middle of the day. In extras is the four-spotted chaser in control.
I also cannot resist adding an extra of the third variety of iris we have around our pond - a lovely rich purple
