Poor Isonda

our poor yacht Isonda is in a sorry state, but in another -year maybe - she will look wonderful. a hard day was spent fixing in 5 new frames, to partner up damaged ones. this involved me hammering 4 inch copper nails through the hull from the outside - square nail in a round hole for a tight fit - then John on the inside attaching a rove - like a washer, then hammering the end over to seal it. sounds quite easy but I had to put all my weight on the outside of the nail, once I had hammered it in, to stop it coming out again when John attacked it from the inside. it was hard work but thankfully the weather was good. there is obviously so much still to do but this two man job is finished thank goodness.

home for dinner, to read the papers, have a nice bath - next - and hopefully catch up on comments. apologies if I don't get to them all tonight.

for those who are interested Isonda is a 33 ft plus bowsprit 4 berth cutter, bermudan rigged, built in 1936. designed by Charles Kingsley - not the water babies one - and built in Woodbridge in Suffolk. she is oak framed, pitch pine planking and pine deck, with a bit of iroko just added at the stern after the transom had to be completely rebuilt
