Rememberance
I don't think anyone will ever forget where they were the morning of September 11, 2001...
I sat in my living room, rocking my 2 week old baby girl, crying for the lives lost, and for the many more whose lives will never be the same. I wept for the children whose parents will never come home, for the service men and women who were only doing their job.
BJ worked security for the State at the time, so he was ordered to work through the night. The day's were long, the night's sleepless - as we dealt with the security of our country.... were we still free? Will we recover from this tragedy? Will the taliban be demolished?
We hung flags, we said prayers, we held each other, we said "I love you" and our country drew strength from each other.
11 years later, we still haven't fully recovered; the stock market crash has been slow to recover, the gas prices are outrageous and we still have troops in Iraq & Afghanistan.
But there is hope.... ground zero now features a memorial fountain and the rebuilt twin towers will once again be part of the NYC skyline. I hope that families have rebuilt their lives and have moved on from this great tragedy.
I've felt the love of country today. I've felt rememberance, hope, rebirth, growth and country pride. We will never forget and I will waive my flag high... as I am proud to be an American!
