The door is always open...
...well, not quite. Some places only open their doors on 15-16 Sep for Glasgow's Doors Open Days.
Wish we'd got out of the house a bit earlier to see more stuff but never mind, we still managed a visit to Glasgow Central Mosque, Glasgow Sheriff Court and the Construction Skills Academy.
The blip shows a very pleasant chap at the mosque giving us a guided tour (complete with biscuits and lollies for the kids!)
The Sheriff Court was the best though. The boys got to sit in the sheriff's chair under the Latin crest that the guide translated into Glaswegian for us - 'Dinnae mess wi' me'. They then had a tour of the cells which are usually full of innocent (until proven guilty) folk sitting waiting nervously. Perhaps that explained the unmistakable stench of urine in the air (and on youngest's hand which he'd stuck in a urinal not realising what it was). "Soap! Bleach! Water! Disinfectant! Guard, why are you just standing there!"
Anyway, hands washed and on to the Construction Skills Academy which hubby found fascinating, the children and I less so. It was fun pretending to blow up high rise flats though.
Sunday was supposed to be a stay-at-home, getting-jobs-done day. However, as a blip from yesterday said - A clean house is a sign of a misspent life. My thoughts exactly. Think we'll be poking our noses through a few more open doors tomorrow!
