Scarlet Tiger
It's so windy still today that I didn't expect to see any butterflies. I was right until, almost as our walk ended, I saw a flash of red - it was a windblown Scarlet Tiger (Callimorpha dominula), a moth that flies by day, that I've never seen before. It landed on a nettle to show its black forewings, spotted with orange and white. Suddenly, another flash of red (its hind wings), and it had flown away. It was hard to photograph in the wind, as the nettle it was perched on was being buffeted sideways.
You can see how the wind has blown white crests to the waves across the sea in my Extra.
