Lerrick Lifeboat Day

A misty morning, but I cleared to a cloudy afternoon.  This evening has seen the mist come down over the hills and it's been raining most of the evening.

My weekend off work, and got out with Sammy after breakfast for a walk about Scalloway.  I nipped into Lerwick before lunch, and it was Lerwick Lifeboat Day.  There was music and events, and I got tickets for the boat trip for the afternoon.  I watched the football, and poor Scotland got robbed!  Ran niece Elise down to mam's this evening, and helped her with some chores, and of course I made a cuppa or two.

Lifeboat day always has a trip on the Northlink ferry, and heads around the isle of Bressay and also Noss.  342 passengers took the trip today.  We left Lerwick, and then we got a tour of the bridge and met the captain.  Plenty of wildlife and scenery to snap, and the lifeboat followed us out.  As we came to the back of Noss, the coastguard helicopter arrived for a demo of winching people from the helicopter to the lifeboat and vice versa.  And then around the cliffs at the Ord on Bressay.  I've had a grand day out, and spent with niece Elise, Julie and Brian.  Here's the lifeboat and helicopter playing about.
