Which way?

After a very wet morning and early afternoon, the weather brightened into a lovely evening, enough time for a quick spin on the bike to Lorton and back.
I love these old fingerposts, such a quirky symbol of the British rural scene. They date from 1933 when the black and white bands was a mandatory standard.

In 2005, The Department for Transport and English Heritage stated that all traditional fingerpost signs should be repainted every five years in black and white livery. Sadly, in these times of austerity, I don't think this is being done.
