Bowl
In the mid-sixties my paternal Grandmother, who was never well off, came into a tiny bit of money and decided that she should leave it to her three grandchildren. But how strange to think that the investment she decided upon was three cut crystal fruitbowls. As my Dad was involved, I can only imagine that it seemed a sound decision. The sort of thing to sit on your sideboard (for younger people - this was a stand alone piece of furniture where you kept glasses and china in the days before fitted kitchens). My sis always used hers and when she recently broke it she was quite distraught. So, here’s mine - never used and on its way to the sis.
Later, there was a gathering in the Diggers. A good crowd - but blimey the stained glass panel in the window beside 'our' table has been removed. Someone reports that it's because Kevin wants to entice people in by showing what a fine place it is. Really? A bar full of old codgers? Could it be the Corbyn effect?
