From the light to the dark
What a difference 20 years make. The left half of the blip is my friend Carole, the Labour candidate for Mid-Suffolk in 1997, when she reduced the sitting Tory's majority from around 23,000 to about 2,000. It was a wonderful night at the count, to see all those safe seats crumble, and for a while it seemed like Carole might actually win. That weekend we went to the lakes for walk, and the atmosphere in the hills was amazing - Everybody happy and cheery and full of hope for the future.
What a contrast with now, Mr C in the rain today, with only the prospect of a dismal future for both old and young. The pages of vile vitriol and downright lies from the Mail and Sun, despite May's pathetic performance and no-show in debates, will have had a big affect. I have voted tactically in the hope the LibDem will have a chance against the extreme right-wing Tory who voted for Brexit.
