Watendlath Tarn

Wednesday 7th June 2017 (1747)

We were rewarded today with no rain and some blue sky and sun. We had to make the most of it. An unaccompanied day but the whole group decided to go to Watendlath, stopping first at Ashness bridge and the view over Derwent water from the car park.

At Watendlath we started down by the side of the tarn, where we also had our picnic. We then decided to climb the hill behind to get a view from above. We went higher than this and had a great view down the valley as well. Back down at the tarn we walked along the river to catch the waterfalls. After all the rain we'd had they had plenty of fast flowing water.

We did stop briefly at the Ashness landing stage on the way back but were put off by the huge number of large midges, or whatever they were.

Lots of lovely photos viewed tonight. Unfortunately that may be our only dry day and blue sky.
