Korcula

The rain is a distant memory as the sky has cleared. At a couple of the ports we have not been allowed to bring the ship in until the evening, so we have been taken ashore by water taxi. At Korcula the ship was allowed in for a few minutes to drop us off, and it would return later in the day.

Korcula town is the main town on an Island of the same name. It is a walled town which was for a long time part of the Venetian Republic. We were given a guided tour of the town by the cruise manager who comes from here and still lives here when not aboard one of the cruise ships.

Walking tours are very interesting and contain lots of information, however my ability to transfer much of it to long term memory is limited. In the evening we had dinner in a restaurant in a village a few minutes drive from Korcula. On our return from dinner we had a final wander around the town, stopping off at a sea front bar on our way back to the ship.
