Friday: Signposts

It was still a little blustery this morning so we decided to go for a long, bracing walk. We drove to the other end of the island which was practically deserted.  As you can see, we followed some sophisticated signage to get there.

But let me tell you about this evening.  I think it would be fair to say that, on the whole, K. and I are pretty unimpressed with Croatian cuisine. We are getting to the stage where if we see another piece of grilled meat and chips we might burst into tears.........

But tonight we went to the Bora Bar in neighbouring Ravenska.  It was wonderful!  We had mussels, followed by ricotta gnocchi in a butter and truffle sauce, ending with pork chops cooked in local herbs.  Best meal we have had in a long time and all local ingredients. It does make me wonder why we can't have more of this here.  The chef, though, is Italian, not Croatian, and used to run a restaurant in Hoboken, NJ.
