Mohne, Kornblumen & NotDaisies

Poppies, Cornflowers and not-daisies.  Not being used in the English sense, and not in the German.  "Not" as a prefix in German means "Emergency".

It was a day and a half for me today.

I had to do some complicated and hugely technical things which are really boring to explain to non-mainframe-programmers.  There may be 2 of you who would even be vaguely interested.  This might give you a sense of what I mean.

It worked. And I was really pleased.  It's not often that I manage to decipher IBM-Englisch and translate it into workable code first time.

It's at times like that, that I remember how abstract my job is.  Every thing I do is behind the scenes.  If I do it well, the people who use the software I maintain and develop will notice nothing.  The thing does the thing it was meant to.  If I get it wrong, I have 400 people who will tell me really quickly.  I much prefer when the 400 are quiet.

I'm hoping to keep them quiet again tomorrow.
