A very special day...
Today would have been our dearly loved Mum's 100th birthday. I have been thinking about her all day....with a lump in my throat and lots of love in my heart. I/we four miss her lots.
Mum was the youngest of five girls. She became a nurse and then a midwife in the slums (then) of Glasgow after the First World War. She met Dad in Srilanka after the war where they had both gone to help run a furlough home for missionaries. They married after meeting only three times, with several months in between. Mum was convinced Dad would never have eyes for her but it was obviously love at first sight on both sides. They were married for 54 years. Mum had six years on her own after Dad died and she missed her soulmate very much. Mum died eight years ago in March. One of my nieces has Facebooked her birthday today and called her an unsurpassable Grandma!
Today's "specialness" has been wonderfully added to! My niece, daughter of sister #3, has given birth to her first baby. She and her husband have a beautiful son, weighing in at 9lb 1oz! How wonderful is that!
My extra, a collage, tries to say a bit more about Mum. She was great fun too!
A memorable day in many many ways. So much to say thank you for. ..
