How do you get around?
The latest challenge from BlipCentral.
I live in a small city just south of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and the slogan for our area is: "A great city on a Great Lake"--the pun being that the eastern edge of our city borders one of the 5 Great Lakes--Lake Michigan! Needless to say, many people travel the Lake by boat, be it for business or pleasure, but one of the best advances in Lake travel was made in 2004 when the Lake Express was started. It's a twin hulled high speed catamaran that can carry up to 46 cars, 12 motorcycles and 248 passengers; but the best part is that it can go across the Lake--all 87 miles of it--in just 2 1/2 hours, as opposed to the old S.S. Badger, a coal fired steamship (that's been in service since 1953 transporting people and cars across the Lake) that takes 4-5 hours, depending on conditions. I snapped this as the Lake Express was coming into port, just outside the breakers--a bit of downtown Milwaukee can be seen off in the distance. The biggest plus in taking this catamaran is getting to avoid all the horrendous Chicago traffic! :))
