Playing in the street

The boys went to bed well but James woke crying at 1.15. He settled ok but I didn't. My cold had developed, bringing with it a sore throat and thick head. Then at 5.30 he was shouting he had an ouchy- I think he'd fallen out of bed. Again he snuggled back in, and next I knew it was him arriving at 6.30 to ask me to come to see that he'd stayed in bed till his sun came up.

They were both raring to go so while made a picnic Mr C took them to the woods to play. They did the whole 3 mile round again, climbing on all the rocks and enjoying it all till they got rained on.

In the afternoon we took them home as their street was closed to traffic for 2.5 hours so that all the children could play in the road. We had no idea so many children lived on the street - they all brought out bikes, scooters, skipping ropes, played hopscotch etc while the parents did BBQs and shared food. It was a lovely atmosphere.

After the street was open again we had a little birthday tea and cake I'd made for Mr C. #3 daughter and family came too. (Nathaniel was a bit disappointed that there was no bouncy castle for the birthday - though they did all enjoy the trampoline.)

After we got back I assembled the pudding I'd made earlier for the pooled supper our walking group was having, and despatched Mr C with it. One of our friends has sarcoidosis and as her lungs are compromised it wouldn't have been a good idea for me to turn up sneezing and coughing.
