The Last Lilacs

Dear Diary,

The lilacs are beginning to fade now.  The heavy rain late in the day yesterday didn't help but I was still able to gather a big bouquet to take to Dotty's grave.  She has been gone seven months and I miss her very much.  I stopped by her house to see her daughter and I half expected to see her sitting in her usual place on the porch.  I am just very grateful that I had nearly 20 years of friendship with her.

Matt comes today and hopefully the rain showers will hold off so he can get some garden chores done.  There is still more barn attic cleaning to be seen to so I will keep him busy I'm sure.  I am blessed to have him.
