Mono Monday: Gratitude

Also know as Linum, flax, this flower's meaning is gratitude. I read that for many years, blue flax was called Lewis' flax in honor of Captain Meriwether Lewis of the Lewis and Clark Expedition who first discovered the plant in Montana.

A fun walk this morning in this rural neighborhood. No lonely wilderness walk today, and also no cougar encounter! Instead I saw a doe and two fawns dashing for cover at my approach. 

A hot day that saw late afternoon clouds and strong wind. The extra is a moody sunset with Mt. Adams and storm clouds.
