And the Band Played On

Playing for the home crowd,
who were dressed in red, white, and blue.
The band played patriotic...
this is the tuba point-of-view.

A day to honor the fallen,
perhaps a day to mourn.
The band played patriotic...
including these big horns.

It was a typical Memorial Day service in our city. A very small parade, and the parade watchers follow the marching band into the cemetery. The veterans get older every year, and halfway through the program...the sound system conks out...so the crowd can hear nothing.

But, some things need no amplification. The band is plenty loud, the soldiers rifle salute is plenty loud, and the ending of the program by a single trumpeter playing Taps is just loud enough. (That part is always moving.)

Thus starts our unofficial start to Summer.
