Puffins on Westray

This evening I decided to revisit the Castle O Burrian to see if we could get a bit closer to the puffins and I did. There were large numbers of them on the water and periodically they would fly back to their crevices and holes in the cliff face and on the stack.
The " tammie norries " are certainly curious and fascinating birds.

Earlier in the day I met up with 2 local people with a fund of knowledge about Westray families and their history so I now have a much better picture of who my ancestors were and where they stayed. I cannot believe how helpful the locals want to be.
