Carribean Festival

There has been a Carribean festival in Reading since 1974 but over the last few years it has been plagued with lack of funding and lack of interest. There was even a shooting last year. Following new leadership it was back today with a vengeance. There is a street parade around the town and although the number of floats was down on previous years the quality of the costumes was greatly improved. Then it was back to the park for a party with live bands and plenty of food. Early on in the afternoon there was a great atmosphere with reggae music blasting out and everyone, black and white, having fun (how do they 'shake their booty' like that?).
Sadly at about 4pm it started raining heavily and I think most of the proceedings have now been abandoned.

Still no sunbathing achieved and its back to work tomorrow so I will have to remain pasty white for a while longer.
