Out for a paddle

This afternoon I went for a walk along the canal near where I live. I saw this Canada Goose family swimming close to the lock at New Marton (the other parent is out of shot). 

As soon as the water started pouring through the lock gates they all climbed up the bank and sat on a ledge while the boat came through. It would be interesting to know if they do that each time one comes through the gates. If so, they must be kept quite busy as there's a lot of canal traffic at the moment.
