Wound up in Wexford

Rosa glauca

3 years ago, soon after we moved to this house, W got a bargain lot of bare root trees and bushes - I think they were 10 for £10.  They were all very small, but most of them survived and are now growing into sizable trees and bushes.  This rosa glauca was one of them.  Now planted out into the garden, and thriving.

As an extra is a fly that I have not been able to identify.  It caught my eye because when it was flying there was a flash of bright yellow.  Once it was settled on the leaf the abdomen is covered by the wings - as in this photo, but I think it is solid yellow except for the tail end, which is black.  If anyone knows what it is, I'd be grateful for identification.

Also spotted around the pond today - lots more blue damselflies - exact species uncertain, several large red damselflies, a male broad bodied chaser, and a female broad bodied chaser that was laying eggs in the pond.

And I've seen a few newts (or maybe the same newt several times?).
