Superguaaaaaaaaay!
Hola a todos.
So I've been pretty bad at updating this for the last few days...and taking photos so this one is courtesy of the lovely Nessa who kindly let me take a picture on her camera.
First things first, some actual but not real work has started here. The language course we have to do for the next two weeks started today and so a flock of nervous Erasmus students flocked to a few buildings across the uni for what promised to be a challenging, potentially death by grammar course. But no. Our first class involved talking about smoking for four hours, listening to a song and learning the word for 'scissors' in Spanish. Also, Patri (our tutor guy) enjoys walking round and talking quietly rather than trying to keep all thirty odd of us at bay. People keep referring to him as 'pobre cito' and, when you see what an Erasmus language class is like, you'd understand why. Another word that we learnt was 'superguay', so now that's how I'm referring to a lot of things here. By the end of class, most of the group were doing the same. Poor Patri! It's good for meeting new people though and I've definitely spoken a lot more Spanish over the whole of today which is what I was hoping for. We'll see how this one goes though...
After class, I met a few other inglesas and we went to Sol (a cool part of Madrid that's famous for its' bars and cool atmosphere) to check out the Mercado del Sol, which is where today's photo is from. It has a rustic atmosphere and as soon as you enter you're met by the hustle and bustle of a market selling traditional Spanish food left right and centre. We found a place in there that served Sangria for two euros so sipped a glass each and soaked in the atmosphere with some olives before heading off to find dinner. This presented itself in the form of a cool place called TragaTapas. It serves cheap Tapas (in case the name hadn't given this away) and, even better, five beer and a sandwich for five or six for a grand total of 6 euros. So split between us that was just over a euro each. Bargain.
All in all a great evening. Now to go and prepare myself for what tomorrow's class might hold...
