A hot afternoon
First back blip from the train trip from Darwin to Adelaide on the Ghan. The train stopped at Katherine, and we were put on buses and taken to the Nitmiluk Gorge. S had chosen to go on a boat on the first gorge and see rock paintings. I chose a "two gorge" excursion. It is (in fact) one gorge during the wet season, which in the dry times becomes a series of six gorges separated by rock formations. The rock walls were striking and interesting, we saw one set of rock paintings from a distance, a few birds, and two fresh water crocodiles. This (the second one) was in better light for a photo, and I liked the gaping mouth; it seems that this is the way they cool down.
